These paintings focus on the direct physical and psychic experience of living in NH. They are both real and abstract landscapes, responding to the inherent overwhelm of natural presence. They explore collision, and excavation—literal excavations of the earth for its perceived value, as well as the way our perceptual fingers reach into the electrical socket of reality, hoping for a brief jolt, a vision, an electric connection to supernatural truth that lies at the periphery of our lives.
My mosaic work covers a range of sometimes religious and secular portraits, crosses, rosaries, tables, lamps, etc.
The work can take weeks to months to complete, depending upon size and challenge of the project. Traditional mosaics that utilize many tiny pieces of glass and tile are inspirational to me. I honor the traditional art form by striving for the same tedious intricacy, while incorporating contemporary unorthodox materials, and subject matter.

These paintings speak to the spaces of our internal and external worlds with my experience ofrural living acting as a grounding element. I’m drawn to the dichotomous forces inherent in both of these landscapes; to the conflicts within us and those that surround us. The forces of chaos and order, the minute and the immense experience, and the relationship between intuition and intention, are all frequent sources.
